Chartered Management Accountant – Director & Principal

Founder of COUNT, and a Chartered Management Accountant, John believes in delivering exceptional customer service to every single COUNT client that comes to the practice.

With a background in global hospitality, John has worked around the world – from Lagos to Karachi and all throughout Europe, and was awarded the status of Fellow in 2010 by the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants.

A keen fisherman and Land Rover Defender enthusiast, John can be spotted roving Perthshire, when he’s not salmon or trout fishing in Norway.

Accountant – Outsourced Management Accounts Specialist

Karolina – aka Karla – is COUNT’s resident Outsourced Management Accounts Specialist. Passionate about small entrepreneurial businesses, Karla focuses on specific services that support their growth.

Hailing from Poland, Karla studied Cultural Anthropology during her undergraduate degree, visited Scotland on a post-graduation holiday, and stayed!

Working in household name companies like Compass Group and Tesco, Karla honed her skills and was awarded a postgraduate accounting certification from the University of Highlands and Islands.

Our resident foodie, Karla is also a bookworm, podcast listener, green-thumbed gardener, and part-time roadie for her teenage musician.

Trainee Accountant – Automation Specialist

COUNT’s very own Trainee Accountant and Automation Specialist, Sean joined the team in 2021, after being awarded his Batchelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from Robert Gordon University in 2019.

Having worked throughout his degree, Sean initially began a retail career working full time with Sports Direct in Aberdeen, but relocated to Crieff in November 2021 to join COUNT.

Thriving in his accountancy practice career, Sean is an extremely keen angler with an international fishing and angling bucket list.

Happily, he’s also an outdoorsman, and can usually be found by a local river or beautiful loch.

Accountant – Tax & Compliance Specialist

One of our Tax & Compliance Specialists, Vicky has an impressive record both academically and professionally – studying Accountancy and Finance at Edinburgh Napier University, qualifying as an Accounting Technician, and later becoming a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians.

Vicky was integral to the success of a Dunfermline accountancy practice, serving there for 15 years, before taking a family career break and joining COUNT.

Living just outside Dunfermline with her family (including twins) and their handsome labrador, Bob, Vicky loves walking, gym sessions, and the odd glass of red wine!

Accountant – Practice Manager (Crieff)

Shannon is one of our Accountants and our Crieff Practice Manager, graduating in 2015 with a Batchelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of the West of Scotland.

Shannon gained key skills across multiple sectors before working at an accountancy practice in Stirling for hands-on industry experience.

Joining COUNT in 2016, Shannon quickly grasped cloud-based systems and software, and was invaluable in implementing these in our fast-growing firm.

Living by her motto of “you have to try everything once!” Shannon loves experiencing new things with her young daughter or travelling to new places on holiday.

Accountant – Practice Manager (Dunfermline)

Our Dunfermline Practice Manager and Accountant, Gary’s early career began in the financial department of a global electronics company.

During his time there, Gary worked with a variety of international business partners, before a change in direction brought him to a firm that merged with COUNT.

He has a real breadth and depth of experience of working with multiple clients in multiple sectors, and enjoys helping people feel welcome and well taken care of.

Based in Fife with his family, Gary loves DIY (both in his home, and his garden), cars, and video gaming with his son.

Student Intern

One of COUNT’s very own Trainee Accountant’s and our in house Automation Specialist. Noah joined the team at the beginning of 2023 and works with us in between studying his degree at The University of Aberdeen.
Noah quickly grasped accounting principles and supports the Crieff office with book-keeping, self-assessments and year end accounts.
In Noah’s spare time, he can be seen watching sports or playing Hockey and Futsal for the University team.

Student Intern

Kasia started working with COUNT at the beginning of 2024 and is currently studying Accounting at the University of Highlands and Islands in Perth.
When not working or studying, Kasia enjoys fun days out with her daughters. She also has a passion for cycling, paddle boarding and kayaking when the weather allows it in sunny Scotland!
